You don’t want to waste your time and effort on platforms that has 1, 2, or the most 10 users. This is where your Research skills can be put into use. Google the Top 10 Social Network platforms and you can go from there. 3. Build an Online Network

Three rules!

1. Keep your networks open, reach out to consumers and other businesses.
Social Media is a very good medium to meet people in all parts of the globe thus; you can potentially grow your network. It would allow you to automatically announce improvements and updates going on in your business. Don’t be afraid to get exposed, let the world know you have a cool business that can help improve our way of life. Podcasting has become a powerful and inexpensive way to develop  large following

2. Stop and notice other people’s stories.
Don’t talk about yourself all of the time. Let the people in your network feel that they are being listened to. If they posted that they had a bad day, leave a “cheer up” comment. If they have achieved something, congratulate them and if they wrote an awesome content, complement them. We love how we are being noticed, that goes with other people too. It would help build trust and friendship. Try it out, you would be amazed on how many friendship you can build by trying this out.

3. Your audience comes first, be a Valuable Resource.
Offer “Assistance” to your audience and provide easy and understandable processes to solve a certain problem. Bookmark some useful resources you have found along the way. Research and originality is very important in blogging, it can help a lot in producing a unique, awesome and relevant content and not merely selling.

4. Link your way to Search Engines

Distributing your content enables you to send your concept, information on your product and business to be accessed throughout the web. There are a lot of online tools that you can use in distributing.

Make sure that it would allow you to broadcast your message and product across all the Social Media platforms. Be heard and let the world know you have something to tell.

People will follow you if they like what they saw. If they don’t, they will not follow you. But, that’s okay. You can’t please all. Linking is not a numbers’ game but rather than socializing in a professional and personal way. You would want followers that are really interested in your blog and people that are participating. There is a right and wrong when it comes to Linking. The Right way to link is: Share relevant information within your content or an awesome and informative link on the area of interest. The wrong way is: “Follow my website www.blahblahblah.com” which is pretty boring. Doing the right way to link can open discussion on the topic you shared and from there you can tell them about what you have. In that way, it would not make you sound like selling.

This is an area I struggle with. Understanding how these Social Media tools work #1 and then maintaining a plan of action to use them effectively. Great info and a great reminder to organize this system a little better!

  3. Great article, Chuck. There is so much to learn in this area, and social media is certainly something we need to learn about if we are promoting anything online. Using social media in the right way can be profitable and the time it takes to learn it will be well worth it in the end. But if we go into it with the sole aim of promoting ‘me, me, me’, we might just as well not start at all.

“People will follow you if they like what they saw. If they don’t, they will not follow you. But, that’s okay. You can’t please all.” I like this. So many people are caught up in the numbers game and their aim is to get thousands and thousands of people following them. When they like what value we offer they will follow. And why worry about those who don’t like it? As you so well said, you can’t please everybody, so why waste energy trying? When we concentrate on those who do see the value in our information and continue to speak to their needs, we have achieved success.

    • You hit the nail on the head with the comment:
